Building Your Immune System

Colds and flu season is not far away. As we go through changes in temperatures and daylight exposure, our immune system will become stressed and asked to protect our bodies more and more. To get a jump on this problem, and to reinforce our systems for the stress of the upcoming holiday season, now is the time to start working on improving our immune systems so they will be strong.

Many organizations and business are already pushing the concept of getting flu vaccines early. This may be a good idea for some people, but there are others who aren't healthy enough to get flu shots, are too young, or just don't want to put the additional vaccine chemicals in their bodies.

There are alternatives that do help reduce the effects of colds and flu or in some cases may prevent them, depending on the individual. Vitamins D and C lead a list of supplements that are useful in fighting colds and flu. An anti-inflammatory diet along with other immune boosting foods will help in this effort. Regular exercise, stress reduction activities and drinking plenty of water are also good steps to take.

If you wish additional help to prevent cold and flu, or if you feel you may be coming down with something, call for an appointment with our doctors. Chiropractic adjustments along with a healthy diet and adequate exercise will help to build your immune system so it can take care of you this year.
