Maintenance Care Benefits
Lower pain and disability levels a result of maintenance care, recent study shows.
A study conducted at Mansoura University in Mansoura, Egypt, indicates that patients with chronic low back pain had significantly lower pain and disability levels after 10 months of regular spinal manipulation, than patients who did not receive spinal manipulation.
After one month of treatment, both groups had similar results of lowered pain levels. A big difference was experienced over the long term. After 10 months, the group receiving regular maintenance care had significantly lower scores, while the no manipulation group reported pain levels almost at the same level as when they started the study.
Conclusion, maintenance care keeps working as long as patients use it, but if a patient stops, he or she needs to start all over at square one.
